The Better Cotton programme, formerly known as BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), is now the largest global initiative dedicated to responsible cotton cultivation. Managed by the non-profit organisation Better Cotton, it aims to improve cotton production practices through measurable environmental, social, and economic criteria. Unlike a finished product label, Better Cotton does not certify a garment but ensures that the cotton comes from farmers trained in more sustainable methods: reducing water use, limiting pesticides, respecting biodiversity, and improving working conditions on farms.
